Jamshedpur, Aug 29: A delegation of home-guards of East Singhbhum met Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav on Monday and handed over a memorandum addressed to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais demanding equal pay for equal work.

Home-guard Dinesh Kumar Yadav said the home-guards should be given remuneration at par with the district police personnel. “Home-guards are pressed into service just like police personnel. But when it comes to paying them for work, the government gives them peanuts. There are no amenities for them either,” he said.

Yadav said an order had been passed to determine the salaries of home-guards at par with police personnel. He said the state government had unfortunately taken no action in connection to the demand for equal pay for equal work.
