Jamshedpur, April 16: Jamshedpur recorded 538 new Covid-19 cases in the highest single-day spike ever since the pandemic began last year. With the fresh cases, Steel City’s positive cases tally has mounted to 2865, according to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 people succumbed to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 424.
With Jamshedpur breaking its pandemic record every day, Jharkhand government is planning to impose fresh curbs to contain the virus spread.
The positivity rate rose to 3.35 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 23031 and the death count is now 424, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 5706 tests conducted on Friday.
Of the 538 new cases, 526 are from Jamshedpur urban area, 9 from Chakulia and one each from Musabani, Dumaria and Baharagora.
There are 2865 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in the Steel City has gone up to 23031 and a total of 424 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far.
As many 19742 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 171 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. Over 5000 COVID-19 tests, including 3040 RT-PCR and 2247 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 258405 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur has dropped down to 87.77 % while the mortality rate is 1.84%.
So far in Jamshedpur 703003 samples have been collected out of which 687873 have been tested and 664842 have turned out to be negative.
