Jamshedpur: Hearing on road construction in Incab area

Jamshedpur, May 7:  A hearing was held on Saturday in the First Class Court of Judicial Magistrate regarding the possession of about 3 acres of land of Incab Industries Limited.

Under this, the main examination of Bhagwati Singh was held under Section 200 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 in the criminal case filed by Bhagwati Singh, the representative of the workers of INCAB, against the construction of a road from the Welfare Association to the Tata Foundry by TSUIS (formerly Jusco) at the behest of Tata Steel.

Bhagwati Singh told the court that he had filed criminal case against Tata Steel Limited, Jusco, Tata Steel Limited’s Managing Director T.V Narendran, executive director Kaushik Chatterjee and TSUIS Managing Director Tarun Kumar Dagga.

He told the court that in 1919, Tata Steel got 15725 acres of land under the Government Grant Act, 1895 (Government Grant Act, 1895). Soon thereafter, out of which 177 acres of land was given to Incab Industries Limited under the Government Grants Act, 1895. Singh further said that today Tata Steel is claiming that it had given sublease to Incab Industries Limited  whereas Grant’s sublease does not happen.

When the Magistrate asked that if it is a grant, then how is Tata Steel claiming that it has got this land on lease from the government in 2005, Bhagwati Singh said that Tata Steel and the government should answer this.

He further said that Rs 400-500 crores are owed to the workers and employees of Incab and they want to save the assets of INCAB company, so that workers and employees can get their dues.
