Jamshedpur, Aug 13: State health minister Banna Gupta on Friday evening said that a new 100 bed facility at the state-run MGM Medical College and Hospital at Sakchi which will have 16 CCU’s, 30 oxygen beds and another 54 beds having the facility of oxygen concentrator. The move is aimed to tackle the threat of a possible third wave of Covid-19.
The minister along with district administrative and Tata Steel USIL officials visited the government hospital this evening.
According to the minister, the hospital will see complete makeover which will be undertaken in a phase-wise manner.
” We are giving much focus on cleanliness and hygiene. The entire campus of the hospital will see a cleanliness drive, the damaged boundary walls would be repaired and efforts would be made to strengthen the emergency unit of the hospital, ” he said while talking to the media.

According to the minister, all steps would be taken for fulfilling the requirements of the Medical Council of India both at the hospital and the government medical college in Dimna.
Notably, this was the fourth visit of the minister to the hospital ever since he took charge of the health ministry. In his earlier visits the minister’s emphasis was to improve the quality of food served to the patients.
In a move to improve the health scenario in the district, Health Minister Banna Gupta is on a meeting spree these days. The minister assured the officials that he would take steps to ensure that the shortcomings at the hospital are fulfilled. He said that he would regularly visit MGM Hospital and take care of improvement initiatives.
Gupta apprised the officials about the state government’s work plans, vision, its expectations from bureaucrats and other officials and priorities set by the government in different areas of public service.
Gupta said the government officials were representatives of the state government and hence he would work with them as their colleagues. He urged them to ensure the success of various government schemes by reaching out to the people and informing them about their benefits.
MGM Medical College and Hospital is a government hospital with a facility of 540 beds. Everyday around 1000 patients come here for treatment. It may be mentioned that the State Government governed Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, is an Indian medical school established in 1964. It is situated in the outskirts of Jamshedpur near Dimna. The college’s hospital is located in Sakchi.
