Jamshedpur, May 12: On Friday, a violent confrontation occurred near Bhuinyadih Litti Chowk under Sidgora police station, involving BJP Metropolitan President Gunjan Yadav and his associates, who attempted to stop the construction work of a water treatment plant. The workers physically assaulted employees of Tata Steel UISL (previously Jusco) present on the spot and even pelted stones.

Yadav claimed that the Oxygen Colony ground has been used for religious and cultural events for centuries and that development work should not be carried out at the expense of the sentiments of the residents. He demanded that the Tata Company provide a suitable place for religious rituals as promised before allowing the construction work to proceed. Vinod Yadav, president of the Bhuyanadih division of MLA Saryu Rai’s party Bhajmo, countered Yadav’s claims, saying that he was unaware that a water treatment plant was being built at the site and not a parking lot. He also alleged that the opposition to development in the area was motivated by caste politics and an attempt to prevent the MLA’s success in delivering facilities to the people.
