Jamshedpur: A solemn and spiritually uplifting Good Friday service was held at Mercy Chapel, Baridih, drawing a large gathering of faithful for prayer and reflection. The ceremony was marked by a deeply moving message delivered by Fr. Gerry D’Souza, who reflected on themes of suffering, faith, and hope.
In his address, Fr. D’Souza emphasized that although Good Friday is often seen as a day of sorrow, it ultimately symbolizes redemption and hope for humanity. He shared a simple yet profound thought, stating that sometimes the darkest moments lead to the greatest good.
Highlighting the life of Jesus Christ, he noted that Jesus knowingly embraced His journey toward Jerusalem, offering the ultimate example of love and sacrifice. His perseverance under the weight of the Cross serves as a powerful lesson in resilience and courage during life’s trials.
Fr. D’Souza also spoke about real-life examples of individuals who maintained their faith despite personal tragedies, illustrating that true belief remains steadfast even in adversity. He reminded the congregation that life is a balance of joy and hardship, and one must learn to face both with faith and strength.
Reflecting on the Cross, he explained that it is not a symbol of defeat but of love, sacrifice, and eventual victory. He compared it to a seed that must be buried to bring forth new life, highlighting the transformative power of suffering.
Concluding his message, he encouraged the faithful to trust in God even in uncertainty, to love and forgive despite pain, and to remain hopeful in times of darkness. The service was attended by Fr. Sushil Dung Dung and Fr. Oscar Horo, making it a deeply meaningful observance for all present.
