Jamshedpur, Dec 2 : For people in Jamshedpur, she was your next door girl, who is now wearing the director’s cap for a Hollywood multi-starrer social thriller ‘Sweatpants’.
Yes, she is Dr Ranu Sinha who in 90s, did her schooling from Sacred Heart Convent School and Loyola School before moving into the campus of prestitgious Delhi -based Lady Sri Ram College for her higher studies.
Later she did her doctorate from JNU in Delhi.
Ranu started her career in the US as a social science professor in reputable colleges and universities such as Santa Clara University, University of California Berkeley, and Merritt College in Oakland to name a few, winning several awards as a faculty. Her passion for films and theatre became a profession when she trained in filmmaking from Raindance in Los Angeles. Ranu is acknowledged in the San Francisco Bay Area and Bollywood as a first Indo-American global trendsetter to use creativity from all walks of life.
Ranu, with lot of experience in her kitty, directing movies has stepped into big arena of Hollywood, which is a dream for many actors and others associated with movie world.
Ranu is a filmmaker and the CEO of GlamR LLC, California. She is a multiple award-winning director, screenplay writer and composer for movies and record label productions. She moved to US in 2000.
Ranu said, “Sweatpants, which is my Hollywood venture will hit theatres across the globe early next year. It has a rich star cast both from Hollywood and Bollywood.”
According to noted playback singer Shaan, “Sweatpants will be box office hit as soon as it is on the screen for public.”
Ranu is known for promoting young and fresh talents from India. She said in future she plans to give opportunity to boys and girls from Jharkhand, especially Jamshedpur, the city which has moulded her. It will be a giving back to this Steel City.
