Jamshedpur Gangster Kanhaiya Singh paraded on city roads

Jamshedpur, March 2: City police here on Thursday took Kanhaiya Singh, 43, alleged member of Akhilesh Singh gang, out on a public parade through the streets of Sakchi in broad daylight. The accused was handcuffed throughout the exercise.

Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar and several other senior police officials accompanied the police team during the unprecedented foot march. Asked about the purpose of the parade, he said, “There are many criminals in the city who have created an environment of fear in the city. They extort big businessmen and others. They also carry out firing on those not ready to pay. All this has created terror in the minds of public. In order to put an end to this terror, we came up with this plan so that public faith in police may be strengthened.”

Police arrested Kanhaiya from Kanpur. There are over 20 criminal cases lodged in various police station across Jamshedpur. Police seized a country pistol of 7.65 calibre and two bullets from his possession.

Earlier, police had arrested Kanhaiya’s nephew Anshu Chouhan with a loaded gun from Jamshedpur Civil Court.
