Founder’s Day theme: ‘Technology for People and Planet’

 

Jamshedpur, Feb 28: Jamshedpur is gearing up to celebrate the 185th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the visionary founder of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur, on March 3, 2024.

Final preparations are underway, with a focus on commemorating Founder’s Day on the theme “Technology for People and Planet.”

The celebrations will feature the illumination of over 50 significant sites across Jamshedpur, including heritage buildings, places of worship, and roundabouts. The colorful lights used in these displays will not only enhance the city’s beauty but also serve as a reminder of the occasion, this information was jointly provided in a press meet at Beldih Club on Wednesday by Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary, Tata Steel UISL MD Rituraj Sinha, and Senior GM Dhananjay Mishra.

They informed that various activities are planned for Founder’s Day 2024, including homage programmes at Jubilee Park, Jamshedpur Works and Postal Park, exhibitions, sports events, and a Science and Technology Exhibition at SNTI and an exhibition at Steelennium Hall in Jamshedpur Works.

Dhananjay Mishra said that Jubilee Park’s mesmerizing lighting display will be accessible to the public from March 3 to March 5. Spectators can enjoy the illuminated scenery from 5 pm to 10 pm. Additionally, from 10 pm to 11.30 pm, the captivating lighting can be experienced through vehicles, providing a unique viewing opportunity for visitors.  Laser Show will be operational from March 3-5 at Jubilee  Park.

Along with Jubilee Park seven other parks including Dorabji Tata Park, Postal Park, Birsa Munda Park, Bhatia Park,  Nildih Park, Ramnagar Park and New Baridih Park (Pandey Maidan) have alos been illuminated.

Chanakya Chaudhary informed that Jamshedpur will soon get second Nature Trail in Agrico. The first Nature Trail in the city was opened at CH Area on March 2, 2023.

 

The homage at Jamshedpur Works will be broadcast live on Tata Steel’s official Facebook page for a global audience.

 

Founder’s Day Sports events will also be held at JRD Tata Sports Complex and Gopal Maidan, featuring a range of sporting activities for employees and the community to enjoy.

Every year, Tata Steel along with other Tata group companies celebrate the birth anniversary of the Founder and his vision of an industrial future with community welfare at its core.  J N Tata had begun his entrepreneurial journey with a textile mill in central India in the 1870s. His vision inspired the steel and power industry in India, set the foundation for technical education, and helped the country leapfrog to join the ranks of industrialised nations.

Exhibition at Steelennium Hall, Jamshedpur Works

The theme for the exhibition at Steelennium Hall this time is “Technology for People and Planet”.  Technology is crucial to being culturally, structurally, and financially future-ready. All departments will be presenting their technology-led initiatives aligned with the theme.

 

The exhibition will be inaugurated on March 3.

TechEx 2024 at SNTI

The 14th Science and Technology Exhibition 2024 (popularly known as Tech-Ex) will be held at SNTI. The exhibition will be around this year’s theme of Founder’s Day celebrations “Technology for People & Planet”. The young minds of SNTI (Management Trainees, Junior Engineer Trainees, Trade Apprentices), employees of Tis group companies and students from various colleges will display their skills and competence in various technological fields. A total of 40 projects will be on display out of which 25 are prepared by the cadre trainees of Tata Steel. The exhibition will be inaugurated on March 2 and will be available for all to visit from March 3-5, 2024, from 9 am to 6 pm.

 Founder’s Day Sports

Like previous years, Tata Steel will have the preliminary sports events at JRD Tata Sports Complex on March 2, which will be participated by employees of various locations. The sporting events will include relay race, shot-put throw, corporate relay and sporting activities for transpersons and senior citizens among others.

Final set of sporting events will take place on March 3 afternoon at Gopal Maidan. The venue being in the centre of the city, most of the citizens and members of the community can witness and experience the events. Presence of the senior leadership and top office bearers of Tata Workers’ Union will add colour to the event.
