Jamshedpur: Former Ichagarh MLA Sadhu Charan Mahato cremated

Jamshedpur/Chandil, Nov 24: Sadhu Charan Mahto, former BJP MLA from Ichagarh Assembly constituency, was cremated on Wednesday at Parwati Ghat. Host of admirers along with bigwigs across political barriers joined in paying their homage to the late leader. Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta was present at the crematorium ground during the last rites. He paid his tribute to the departed leader.

It may be mentioned that Sadhu Charan Mahto who was undergoing treatment at RN Tagore Hospital in Kolkata, died on Tuesday morning. His body was brought to Jamshedpur and kept at the TMH morgue. At 8 o’clock in the morning his body was brought from TMH to his Chandil residence where BJP workers and citizens paid their last respects. His body was taken to his ancestral home in Rangatand and then to his current residence at Dungri in Adityapur. The deceased leader’s family members, relatives and throngs of local residents and admirers paid their tributes to Sadhu Charan Mahto. From there, his body was taken to Parvati Ghat for the final rites.

Ranchi BJP MP Sanjay Seth, AJSU Party supremo Sudesh Mahto and leader Harelal Mahto, former BJP district president Uday Pratap Singhdeo, Ramesh Hansda, Adityapur Deputy Mayor Bobby Singh, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s uncle Charu Chandra, people from various political parties including Sukhram Hembram and Khagen Mahto among others were present. BJP MP Sanjay Seth said that the death of Sadhu Charan Mahto was an irreparable loss to the party.  He said, “A statue of late Sadhu Charan Mahato, who was fighting for the cause of the displaced persons whose land had been taken for the Swarnrekha Multi Purpose Project, would be installed in the area so that the future generation may continue to get inspiration from his inspirational deeds.”
