Jamshedpur, Sep 27: A team of Food Safety department launched an inspection drive across the city with the view to curb food adulteration during the festive season. Led by Food Safety Officer, the team visited various sweets shops, restaurants and roadside eateries and collected samples of snacks and other food items. The team collected Rasgulla samples from New Chappan Bhog in Bistupur, Besan Laddu from Sagar Sweets and Gulab Jamun from New Gangour Sweets in Bistupur.
The samples would be sent to the Food Testing Laboratory in Namkum, Ranchi, said the Food Safety Officer. Action would be taken against the proprietors of outlets where food adulteration is found, he said.
The officials directed the proprietors of all food outlets to display the manufacturing and expiry dates of sweets being sold by them and abstain from adulteration.
