Jamshedpur, July 15: A gang of armed youths opened fire on Mohammad Iqbal, a Congress leader, in Bistupur on Friday.
Sources said the incident took place in the evening when the victim was standing outside his house at Line No 8, Block B, Dhatkidih. Salman who led the group of 10 to 15 youths, came near Iqbal and fired a shot at him. Iqbal survived the attack and ran inside his house to save his life, sources said.
The culprits reportedly fired six rounds after Iqbal ran away.
Senior police officials led by DSP CCR Animesh Kumar Gupta reached the scene and began a probe into the incident.
Police sources said the entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed near Iqbal’s house. Salman and his aide Gama were seen firing in a footage, sources said.
