Jamshedpur, Sept 24: Late on Saturday night, criminals fired at Sukhia Road 10 no Basti resident Sunny Singh when he was returning after attending a religious function. He sustained a minor injury on his hand by the gunshot. 10 no Basti is under Sidhgora police station.

Sunny managed to escape from the scene after the attack. He reported that he was on his way home from a religious ceremony on Saturday night when he was accosted by Karan Singh alias Mame and his henchmen. Sunny stated that at the time of a cash amount of ₹22,000 was snatched from his possession during the incident.

Another information revealed that on Saturday, prior to the attack on Sunny Singh, Karan Singh had created a stir at Golmuri Khalsa Basti. Basti dweller Resham Kaur alleged that Ganesh Puja was being performed at the colony when Karan Singh with some men came and threatened people by brandishing weapons. He had come in search of one Ranveer Singh, also a resident of Golmuri Khalsa Basti. Not finding him home, Karan Singh threatened and abused his family members and left the locality brandishing their weapons. Resham Kaur informed that Karan Singh had been released from jail a couple of months earlier. He had been arrested in a firing incident.

Sidhgora police station in-charge Ranjit Kumar said that Sunny Singh had been to the police station to report on the incident of Karan Singh firing at him but the former had not put in any written complaint in the matter. The police have launched an investigation.
