Jamshedpur, April 5: Love watching IPL? Looking for stadium-like experience of watching the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches? Then head to G Town Ground in Bistupur as the BCCI for the third year in a row is bringing its Fan Park initiative to the Steel City on 6th and 7th April 2019 for fans to feel the cricket fever.
This weekend, four IPL matches will be screened live for the cricket-crazy fans of the city on a 32×18 sq ft giant screen at the Vivo IPL Fan Park.
This is the third year in a row that IPL Fan Park is being organized in Jamshedpur after the successful first outing in 2017 where more than ten thousand people turned up each day, said BCCI (cricket operations) official Amit Siddheshwar.
Addressing a press meet at the G Town ground on Friday, Siddheshwar informed that entry would be free and furthermore, there would be music and multiple stalls for food, beverages that will add more current to the already electric atmosphere.
Kids Zone would be put up for entertainment of kids and families. A lucky draw would be held to select the lucky fan of the day who would receive a Vivo smart phone as gift.
An anchor will be present to control the proceedings as he would be in direct contact with the match venue and Jamshedpur. The G Town Ground would be on the world cricket map, he added.
“We are expecting 5 to 8 thousand people each day”, said Siddheshwar, adding, “Along with Jamshedpur, the IPL Fan Park would simultaneously be organized in Gwalior, Nashik and Palakkad.
Its going to be a double header on both days with Chennai Super Kings taking on Kings XI Punjab at 4 PM followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Mumbai Indians at 8 PM on April 6.
On April 7 Royal Challengers Bangalore will be locking horns with Delhi Capitals at 4 PM and Rajasthan Royals will be up against Kolkata Knight Riders at 8:00 PM.
The BCCI official went on to state that this season the IPL Fan Park would extend its footprints to newer territories. Spread across 21 states and covering 36 cities, Fan Park 2019 would look to cover regions with limited options of entertainment, thereby trying to bring about a social change through community viewing.
Staying true to the motive of reaching thousands of Indians and defying boundaries, one new state and eight new cities have been added. In the last four years, Fan Parks have covered 65 cities. The existing cities retained for this year are the ones, which had seen good footfalls in previous years and would continue to draw fans in large numbers.
