Jamshedpur FC Youth Team aim to extend unbeaten run in clash with FC Goa

Jamshedpur, April 23: Jamshedpur FC Youth team (TFA) will look to extend their unbeaten run in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) when they take on FC Goa at Nagoa ground in Goa on Sunday, April 23.

In the first match, Jamshedpur breezed to a 3-0 win over Mumbai City FC where Piyush Thakuri scored a brace and Sorokhaibam Meitei added to the tally. 

Jamshedpur FC held Chennaiyin to a 2-2 draw in second match of the league and has managed to remain unbeaten in the first two matches of the season.

Jamshedpur haven’t lost a game yet, sitting third with four points from two outings. Coach Indranil Chakraborty will have to work on his team’s execution of their style of play which seemed to go off the rails against Chennaiyin. The Red Miners were lucky to have come out with a point courtesy of a last-gasp equaliser by Lalruatmawia in second-half stoppage time.

On the other hand, FC Goa will be looking to get back to winning ways and ending Jamshedpur’s little unbeaten run.

‘Home’ team Goa lost to Bengaluru FC in a hotly contested encounter, not being able to build on their opening-day win over Chennaiyin. The Gaurs are now placed fourth in the eight-team points table with three points from two games.

In Jamshedpur, they will find an opponent who like to play like them, keeping more of the ball and building from the back. For head coach Deggie Cardozo, the challenge will be to plug the gaps behind the defence and also disrupt Jamshedpur’s passing play in the middle of the park. Goa have looked good in the final third with Jovial Das and Brison Fernandes looking sharp in that second half against Bengaluru. Danstan Fernandes, who was handed a start, also impressed and will push for a place again on Sunday.

The Jamshedpur FC Youth team is one of the participating members from the 8 other teams, competing against the best youth squads of the country to battle for the top spot of the league table.
