Jamshedpur FC takes on Mumbai today minus Cahill, Subrata Paul

Cesar Ferrando confident about his squad to perform

Jamshedpur, Oct 1: Jamshedpur FC is all set for their first match of the Indian Super league (ISL) where they take on Mumbai City FC in an away match on Tuesday, October 2. This is the second season for the Tata Steel owned franchisee. When JFC take the field at the Mumbai Football Arena they will be missing three important players due to suspension and injuries.

Jamshedpur FC players sweated it out ahead of their opening game in Mumbai on Monday.

Talking to the media on the eve of their opening match, head Coach Cesar Ferrando informed that they will be missing star goal keeper Subrata Paul, legend Tim Cahill and defender Dhanachandra Singh is injured.

Subrata Paul is serving a three-match ban which he received during the Super Cup last season while Tim Cahill was handed a three-match ban by The FA last season during his stint with Millwall FC.

Ferrando expressed confidence in his players to perform on the field despite the absence of star players who will be missing the game. ‘We will miss the three players but can’t make excuse as there are other players who have worked hard going into the tournament’, coach said.

It will be Cesar Ferrando’s first test as the head coach of Jamshedpur FC and a win will surely boost his and the side’s confidence going ahead into the long-tournament.

Jamshedpur FC has not lost a match against Mumbai, having won and drawn a game in their two meetings last season. Head coach said that their only aim is to win matches. ‘We want to improve our game with every game and register win in as many matches as possible’, added Spaniard.

Talking about the opponents, Ferrando said, we are not taking any team lightly. We will be playing Mumbai City FC in their home and both the teams donít know much about the players on either side.

‘The opponents also don’t know much about several of our Spanish and young players but by any instance we are not taking the match lightly as we have done quite lot of hard work going into the tournament’, coach added.

Ferrando seemed satisfied with the pre-season training in Spain and quality of Indian players in his squad.
