Jamshedpur, Sept 1: Jamshedpur FC put on a valiant display but came up just a little short as they were beaten 3-2 by Bengaluru FC in a pre-season match at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad.

This was Jamshedpur’s second pre-season game in Hyderabad and third overall this campaign, and expectations were high this time around following an opening goal for the Men of Steel scored by defender Pratik Chaudhari.

Pratik rose highest following a corner delivery for JFC and nodded home what was the first goal of the match in an exciting first half at the Deccan Arena. The joy was momentary though as Bengaluru FC fought back and found an equaliser via Namgyal Bhutia.

Jamshedpur FC appeared to be pushing for a second goal but ended up putting the ball in the wrong net as an own goal was scored to give Bengaluru the lead. 2-1 turned into 3-1 soon after as Robin Yadav converted for BFC but Jamshedpur continued to fight.

Towards the end of the first half, the Men of Steel were awarded a penalty after Mohammed Sanan was brought down in the box by the Bengaluru defence. The resulting penalty was taken and scored confidently by Ritwik Das who slotted the ball past Gurpreet Singh in the opposition goal.

The game ended 3-2 but there were more positives for Jamshedpur FC to take as they look to strengthen themselves in various parts of the pitch ahead of the start of the Hero Indian Super League campaign.
