Pritpal had come out along with Baljeet, his elder daughter, from his residence late in the evening claiming to go out to buy some food from a restaurant. At the Jugsalai crossing, both the father-daughter waited near a petrol pump.

During about an hour-long wait, Pritpal wrote down a suicidal note, and as a train about to pass the level-crossing at about 8.30 pm, he handed the suicide note over to one of the staff of the petrol station. City SP, Subhash Chandra Jat said father and daughter committed suicide after family issues. ” We are investigating into the chain of events that led to suicide. A case is pending with the Bistupur police station against Pritpal’s elder brother Paramjeet. It is a rape case lodged by Pritpal’s wife in December 2020. I had also looked into the case. Now the accused person will be arrested, ” said Jat.

Pritpal’s wife Gurpreet had filed a complaint with the court, leading the court to instruct the Bistupur police station to register a case of rape against Paramjeet. In this connection, the court had also issued arrest warrant against the accused, but the police yet to arrest.

Taking advantage of the police inaction, the accused who is a business man had started pressuring Pritpal to withdraw the case.
