Scores 1189 out of 1200, found at par with Indore
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur has secured a whopping 1189 points out of 1200 in the Swachhata Sarvekshan 2018, thereby becoming a city at par with Indore which attained highest rank. The ranking was calculated by the survey team of Karvy.
Sources said the Swachhata Sarvekshan team had visited every nook and corner of Jamshedpur for 20 days and taken photographs depicting the current status of cleanliness in the city. The photos were uploaded and sent to New Delhi and Hyderabad where an evaluation team found steel city to be sharing its top rank with Indore. Jamshedpur has secured over 99 per cent points in the prestigious survey conducted at national level, sources said.
The Swachhata Sarvekshan was divided in three parts. The first part was related to documentation of claims having total scoring points of 1400 while the second part was related to citizen feedback having as many points. The third part of the suvey was related to direct observation having a total of 1200 points. The survey team was impressed with the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
Notwithstanding the hard work that went into Swachhata Sarvekshan preparation, the city failed to make it to the list of top 10 clean cities. Owing to weaker documented claims, the city got only 600 points. This led it to lag behind other cities. Real efforts for Swachhata Sarvekshan started after Sanjay Kumar took charge as the Special Officer of JNAC. The survey team accepted only those documents that were dated before 31st December, sources said.
The JNAC had organized kite fest, Swachhata Chowki, flying squad and Kabad Mahotsav at the beginning of this year. Choupal, Swacchhata voting and selfie with dustbin were organized between July and October last year.
