Jamshedpur, June 26: Wild elephants destroyed crops in Kalapathar, Badamara and Lodhisoli panchayats of Ghatsila sub division in the last 24 hours. They ransacked a garden after demolishing its boundary wall and also targeted a flour mill at the main road. The elephants ate up several quintals of paddy kept in the house of one Radhe Hansda and damaged the grills at the entrance gate.
The villagers said a herd of around 12 elephants was seen around Devsole Kalsimung forest. The elephants often stray into the villages and attack people. They not only eat up crops but also destroy houses, said the villagers.
