Jamshedpur, June 1: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended Shambhu Kumar, a clerk at the Chaibasa Electricity Supply sub-division, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. Following his arrest, Kumar was transported from Chaibasa to Jamshedpur, where he underwent questioning before being remanded to judicial custody. The arrest came after Sagar Hessa, a resident of Bada Jhinkapani in the Tonto block, filed a complaint with the ACB. Upon investigation, the team verified the validity of the complaint and apprehended the accused red-handed on Thursday. ACB DSP Vijay Mahato stated that Sagar Hessa had reported that on December 10, 2022, he mistakenly deposited a security deposit of Rs 81,100 for the wrong tariff with the Assistant Electrical Engineer. This error occurred due to his lack of knowledge concerning the operation of a holler machine and flour mill in a rural area. Subsequently, Hessa submitted an application to Shambhu Kumar requesting the refund of the amount, to which Kumar demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000. The ACB acted upon the complaint and initiated the necessary measures to apprehend the corrupt clerk.
