Jamshedpur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday raided the residence of Om Prakash alias Guddu Singh, the personal secretary of former Health minister of Jharkhand Banna Gupta, in Nilgiri Apartment, Mango police station area. A seven-member ED team has been questioning Singh in connection with alleged money laundering and financial irregularities.

According to sources, the ED team arrived at Guddu Singh’s residence around 10 a.m. and conducted a thorough search. Officials examined various documents from his office and residence, seizing crucial records linked to the investigation. The action is reportedly based on suspicions of money laundering.

While ED officials have not issued an official statement, sources claim that multiple serious allegations, including corruption and financial misconduct, have been leveled against Singh. Following this raid, the investigation may expand to cover additional cases related to both state and central government dealings.

Security has been tightened in the area, and ED officials are continuing their interrogation. More details regarding the case are awaited as the investigation progresses.

Additionally, the ED team has also raided Spandan Nursing Home, located on NH-33 in Jamshedpur. While no official statement has been released regarding the searches, sources suggest that the investigation is linked to widespread financial irregularities in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state.

According to initial reports, several hospitals in Jharkhand allegedly claimed funds under the scheme without actually admitting patients for treatment. The scam, running into crores of rupees, is suspected to have taken place in more than 750 hospitals across the state.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a flagship health insurance scheme launched by the central government to provide free medical treatment to economically weaker sections. However, alleged fraudulent activities in its implementation have raised concerns over the misuse of public funds.
Meanwhile, raids are being conducted at around 21 locations across the state, including the capital Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
