Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu visited night shelters in her constituency to assess conditions and distribute blankets to the needy amid the severe winter. During her visit, she expressed concern over the deteriorating state of shelters and urged the district administration to take swift action.

After inspecting shelters in Burmamines, Baridiha, Chhayanagar, Kishori Nagar, and the Mango Bus Stand, MLA Sahu found glaring issues, including dilapidated buildings, inadequate water supply, poor sanitation, and lack of electricity. “Water from toilets is flowing onto the roads at Kishori Nagar shelter, causing inconvenience to residents and passersby. These shelters are in dire need of repairs to prevent accidents and provide basic facilities,” she said.

MLA Sahu has written to the Deputy Commissioner, urging immediate action to improve sanitation systems, repair damaged structures, and ensure regular water supply and security. “It is the administration’s responsibility to provide better facilities for the poor and helpless. The current conditions are unacceptable,” she added.

Local supporters, including Suraj Singh, Rakesh Rai, and Suresh Sharma, accompanied her during the inspection.
