Jamshedpur Durga Puja pandal destroyed by fire at Mango

Jamshedpur: The Durga Puja pandal of the Sarvajanin Durga Puja Committee at Mango Dimna Road, Old Subhash Colony, was completely destroyed in a fire late on Saturday night. The fire, which broke out around 1:15 AM, was fought by local residents who attempted to douse the flames with water from their homes.

The fire brigade arrived around 2:30 AM and managed to extinguish the blaze, but by then, the entire pandal had been reduced to ashes. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being reviewed to investigate the incident.

According to Asit Bhattacharjee, General Secretary of the Puja Committee, the pandal had been handed over by the construction contractor only the day before. Electrical wiring and fans were yet to be installed when the fire occurred. Bhattacharjee confirmed that the matter is under investigation.

Jamshedpur: As the city prepares for Durga Puja celebrations, the district administration has intensified its inspections of pandals across Jamshedpur to ensure safety and law and order. Under the supervision of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, police officers are conducting visits to various pandal sites to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

During the inspection, the LRDCC Dhalbhum reviewed the construction of pandals in different police station areas. Puja committees were instructed to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure smooth festivities. Safety protocols and other preparations by Puja committees were also assessed, with feedback provided to improve security during the celebrations.
