Jamshedpur, Oct 9: The district administration held a meeting with the Central Peace Committee,at the Sidhgora Town Hall today to address key issues related to safety measures and noise pollution during Durga Puja.
The meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhanjtri, Senior Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kishore, and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Piyush Sinha, witnessed discussions on aspects of law and order to ensure a peaceful and secure environment throughout the festive season.
A major point of emphasis during the meeting was the strict adherence to safety measures and the prevention of noise pollution. The Central Peace Committee underscored the importance of following regulations, stating that any puja pandal found playing music after 10 pm would face immediate confiscation of the music system. This measure aims to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during late hours and prevent disturbances to residents.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and various police station in-charges, along with representatives of puja committees and members of the Jamshedpur Kendriya Durga Puja Samity.
To enhance safety measures, a dedicated safety response team will be formed, comprising volunteers from puja committees, monitored by local police stations. This team will be responsible for monitoring activities at puja pandals, with fire officers from the Fire Department conducting inspections to mitigate the risk of fire hazards.
SSP Kishore stressed the importance of proper planning for parking areas near major puja pandals, addressing the growing concern of parking issues in the city. The other traffic officials were urged to formulate a plan for efficient parking arrangements.
DC urged puja committees to prioritize eco-friendly celebrations, emphasizing the need for proper disposal of idols and waste. The district administration is working in collaboration with the Jamshedpur Kendriya Durga Puja Samity to clean and develop the Subernarekha ghats for the immersion of idols in a clean environment. This initiative aligns with efforts to combat vector-borne diseases by keeping river water clean after idol immersion on Dashmi.
