DC holds meeting with Durga Puja organizers, stresses on safety

Jamshedpur, Sep 13: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav convened a meeting with the members of Central Durga Puja Committee to discuss various issues ahead of Durga Puja here on Tuesday.
Addressing the meeting, the DC said the district administration expected the cooperation of all Durga Puja committees to ensure peaceful and harmonious puja celebration this year. She sought queries and suggestions from the puja organizers on various important issues such as traffic, parking, illumination, fire safety, law and order and idol immersion procession.

The puja organizers demanded a robust traffic policing, parking arrangement and proper illumination near puja pandals. They also demanded that dry day be announced during the festival to keep hooligans and trouble-mongers in control. Branches of trees should be trimmed to allow safe passage of idol immersion processions, they said.
Jadhav urged all puja committees to install CCTV cameras and fire extinguishers in pandals and depute volunteers for safety and crowd management. She said the district administration would award 10 puja committees that ensure timely idol immersion.
The meeting was also attended by DDC Pradip Prasad, SDO Dhalbhum Sandeep Kumar Meena, ADM Law and Order Nand Kishore Lal, ADC Sourabh Sinha and other district administration officials.
Puja organizers included Rambabu Singh, Abhay singh, Arun Singh, Ashutosh Singh and Diwakar Singh.
Abhay Singh raises traffic, liquor and cleanliness issues
Jamshedpur, Sep 13: Thakur Pyara Singh Dhurandhar Singh Club patron and Central Durga Puja Committee member Abhay Singh Tuesday raised the issues of traffic control, liquor ban and cleanliness near puja pandals during the meeting convened by the DC to discuss Durga Puja preparations. He said the district administration should take prompt measures to tackle city traffic during puja. He said temporary parking stands should be made on roads leading to various puja pandals in the city. He further demanded a ban on liquor sale during puja. He said the administration should ensure cleanliness near puja pandals and river ghats where idol immersion takes place. Safety of puja organizes should be ensured by the district administration, he said.
