Jamshedpur Durga Puja Committee inspects ghats ahead of Chhath festival

Jamshedpur, Oct 17: With the sacred Chhath festival approaching, the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee has become active in ensuring smooth and safe celebrations across the city. Led by Vice President and North Zone In-charge Neeraj Singh, the committee members conducted an extensive inspection of various Chhath ghats on Friday.

Describing Chhath as a festival of “faith, devotion and purity,” the committee emphasized that its successful and safe observance is a shared responsibility. During the inspection, members urged the district administration to ensure adequate lighting, provision of changing rooms for devotees, deployment of divers and clear marking of danger zones. They also called for proper cleanliness, water supply and robust security arrangements at all ghats.

Neeraj Singh remarked, “Just as the administration made timely arrangements during Durga Puja, the same seriousness and promptness should be shown for this festival of faith.” He further requested proper parking facilities and organized allocation of spaces for volunteer service camps to avoid inconvenience to devotees.

Committee members added that senior administrative officials have already begun inspections and issued instructions to concerned departments. Appreciating the administration’s proactive approach, the committee noted that the collective efforts of authorities, the committee and the community are vital for the festival’s successful conduct.

Among those present were patrons and members including Bhishm Singh, Gautam Prasad, Ashok Sinha, Omya Ojha, Abhishek Kumar, Pradeep Das, Raghvendra Mishra, Jitendra Kumar, Shivshankar Singh and Shambhu Mukhi.
