Jamshedpur, July 29: On Monday, a delegation from the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee met with District Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police to request urgent repairs to the Bagbeda Baroda Visarjan Ghat bridge. The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting that the bridge, which was banned for heavy vehicles and immersions since last year’s Durga Puja, was inadequately repaired. This issue forced immersion ceremonies to shift to the Beli Bodhanwala Ghat, which proved insufficient for handling the volume of immersions, leading to complications and an incident last year.
The delegation, including General Secretary Ashutosh Singh, Vice President Gautam Prasad, and other key members, stressed the need to start repair work immediately to ensure the bridge is operational before this year’s Durga Puja. The District Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police assured the committee that they understand the urgency and committed to completing the repair work on schedule.
