Jamshedpur: Tragedy struck in Chowka, under Seraikela-Kharsawan, as a collision between two trucks claimed the life of a driver. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks associated with road accidents and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.

The driver of an iron-rods-laden truck was killed as the speeding vehicle hit a stationary truck on NH-33 under Chowka police station area in Chandil in the wee hours on Thursday.

Identified as Jamuna Yadav, the mishap victim was a resident of the Hazaribag district. His family members rushed to the Seraikela after being informed about the incident.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.

Upon receiving information about the accident, local authorities and emergency services rushed to the scene to provide immediate assistance. The injured driver was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before medical aid could be administered.

The collision led to a temporary disruption of traffic in the area, causing inconvenience to commuters. However, efforts were swiftly initiated to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident may have occurred due to a possible lapse in judgment or a failure to maintain a safe distance between the two vehicles. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, and authorities are working to gather more information and statements from witnesses.

According to police, a cement-laden truck was stationary on the NH-33 due to a breakdown. Another truck which was speeding towards the same direction carrying iron rods hit the stationary truck in the middle of the highway and rammed into it.

The collision was so intense that the front side of the iron-laden truck was damaged completely with its driver getting trapped inside. The police had to press a crane and gas-cutting machine to retrieve the body of the driver who was already dead.

The police have sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The driver and cleaner of the stationary truck had good luck as they were in deep slumber on the road side a little distance away from their vehicle.

The tragic incident highlights the need for heightened awareness and adherence to traffic rules and regulations. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, maintain safe distances, and avoid reckless maneuvers that could potentially endanger their lives and the lives of others on the road.
