Jamshedpur, March 17: In a shocking and rare incident, a 62-year-old doctor who was administered Covid-19 vaccine has been tested positive in a test conducted at the MGM medical college hospital.
The doctor who is posted at the MGM medical college hospital was tested positive along with his 56 year-old wife and 27-year-old son. According to information the doctor is affected very mildly despite having co-morbidity whereas his wife and son are down with the killer virus severely.
This is the first case of any one affected with the Covid-19 even after being given the vaccine here in the steel city. The health department has already administered Covishield vaccines to over 8,000 people.
East Singhbhum district civil surgeon, AK Lal confirmed about one person to have contacted Covid-19 post-vaccination. ” A case has come to our notice on Tuesday night. We are carrying out further test on the person who has already been inoculated. We are closely monitoring the case, but can not reveal any details about this Corona positive person at present, ” said the civil surgeon.
Another health official said the matter is sensitive and they will talk in details about this Covid-19 patient only after a fresh test is done on the patient.
The doctor in question is in the home isolation along with his wife and son at their residence on Dhalbhum Road in Sakchi.
” Yes I had taken the first dose of Covishield on January 19 and the second dose on February 16. But about 10 days ago my wife complained of fever and cold, leading me to give her the necessary treatment. Then I arranged for a Covid test on Sunday. She was tested positive, ” the doctor requesting anonymity.
The doctor said as he himself and his son too stayed at the same residence, they also subjected themselves for the Covid test and were also tested positive. He said like his wife his son was also reported to be severely affected with the Covid-19.
The doctor, when queried, revealed that though he was tested positive, but he is mildly affected with the virus.
” I surprised that despite vaccine I have been affected. I have co-morbidity as I was down with mouth cancer two years ago and had also an open heart surgery, but despite this I am mildly affected, ” narrated the doctor.
Significantly, the doctor revealed that the family had no contact history except his wife had been to a beauty parlour at Aambagan in Sakchi a fortnight ago. Meanwhile, taking a clue from the doctor, the civic body, Jamshedpur Notifies Area Committee (JNAC) on Wednesday afternoon sealed the parlour.
