Jamshedpur selected for export promotion of auto components and engg  goods

Jamshedpur, July 15: East Singhbhum has been selected among 75 districts of the country by the Union government as export hubs. 

A stakeholder consultation meeting  in this connection was held at district collectorate on Friday following instruction of deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav 

per the direction of District Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Vijaya Jadhav. In the meeting, Deputy Director, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Kolkata Mr. Anand Mohan Mishra, Deputy Development Commissioner East Singhbhum Mr. Pradeep Prasad, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Chaibasa Mr. Shambhu Sharan Baitha, Deputy Director, MSME Ranchi, District Fisheries Officer, Leading District Manager, Senior Assistant Director, EEPC, Kolkata, Joint Commissioner, State-tax, Representative of Jamshedpur, Agriculture Inspector, East Singhbhum, Excise Inspector, East Singhbhum, District Horticulture Officer, Representative of East Singhbhum, Member of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jamshedpur, Tata Steel, Tata Motors Ltd., Timken India Pvt. Ltd., Tata Bluescope, Tata International D.L.T., Khaitan Enterprises, and other entities. Delegates joined

It was informed by the General Manager, District Industries Center Sambhu Nath Baitha  that the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India has decided to develop 75 districts as “Export Hubs” in the first phase with the objective of encouraging exports in India, in which two districts of Jharkhand East Singhbhum and Ranchi are included. 

In East Singhbhum district auto component and engineering goods  have been selected for export promotion, due to presence of industries like Tata Steel, Tata Motors and their subsidiaries in this area. The General Manager expressed confidence that Developed as an “export hub”, not only the auto component sector, but also units in other sectors like food-processing, plastics, handicrafts etc. will get an incentive to export, as well as the products manufactured by them will be of international standard from the point of view of quality. 

Deputy director, directorate general of Foreign Trade, Kolkata, Anand Mohan Mishra informed that “District Export Action Plan” has been approved by East Singhbhum district for the first time in Jharkhand. Steel and ancillary units have played an important role in building a strong industrial environment in the district. There is abundant availability of labour, capital and land in the East Singhbhum and Adityapur Industrial Areas, due to which there is ample scope for construction and export. The representatives of the units were urged to convey their problems and requirements to the District Export Promotion Committee so that they can be executed.

Manav Kedia, secretary Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries, informed that many members of the chamber are interested in exports, which include units related to auto components as well as other sectors such as plastics, food processing, etc but said that members of chambers are not aware of process for export to neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan etc. and what products are needed by the importers there. He urged that a workshop should be organized in Singhbhum Chamber building so that entrepreneurs of various sectors can get incentives and necessary guidelines for export. 

Representative of Engineering Export Promotion Council Joy Chatterjee informed that they organizes export related workshops for its members from time to time. He urged the present entrepreneurs to join these workshops by joining EEPC.

It was informed by the representative of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India that with the objective of encouraging the entrepreneurs to participate in the fair exhibitions organized abroad, the MSME Ministry has set up stalls for the MSME units and in the movement of financial aid. The grant is provided, the information of which is available on the portal of the Ministry of MSME.
