This initiative, popularly known as the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, seeks to revolutionize energy consumption by providing free electricity and enabling households to generate income through surplus energy. Beneficiaries of this solar rooftop scheme will: Receive 300 units of free electricity per month. Earn income by selling excess energy to DISCOM. Contribute to the increased use of renewable energy and reduced carbon emissions.
The scheme primarily targets those who have not previously availed of solar rooftop subsidies. Required documents for application include: Identity proof, Residence certificate, Roof ownership certificate, Electricity bill copy and Bank details (e.g., cancelled cheque or passbook).
Applicants can access loan facilities without collateral, with key details as follows: Interest rate: 7% (0.5% above the repo rate). Loan amount: 90% of installation cost. Subsidies can offset the loan amount, with the remainder payable in monthly installments over 10 years.
The government is providing subsidies based on the average power consumption and capacity of the solar rooftop system: 0-150 units (1-2 kW): ₹30,000 – ₹60,000. 150-300 units (2-3 kW): ₹60,000 – ₹78,000. Above 300 units (Above 3 kW): ₹78,000.
District Magistrate Mittal emphasized the significance of this scheme in transforming the energy landscape of the district. He urged all officials and stakeholders to work collaboratively to achieve the scheme’s objectives efficiently.
With the DLC in place, East Singhbhum is poised to become a frontrunner in renewable energy adoption and sustainable development under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
