Jamshedpur: ‘Gang of Thieves’ Strikes Two Locked Houses in One Night in Dhatkidih

Jamshedpur: Unidentified burglars targeted two locked residences in the Dhatkidih area under the jurisdiction of Bistupur Police Station on Tuesday night. The thieves decamped with cash, jewellery, and valuable documents worth lakhs of rupees, leaving the local community in a state of panic.

The first incident occurred at Road Number 2 in the BH Area. The homeowner, Arshad Hussain, had reportedly gone to a clinic with his family for medical treatment. Seizing the opportunity of the empty house, the burglars broke the locks and ransacked the premises. According to the victim, the thieves made off with jewellery valued at approximately ₹5 lakh, ₹25,000 in cash, and several important personal documents. The theft was discovered when the family returned late in the evening to find their front door broken and their belongings scattered.

The second burglary took place on the same evening at Quarter No. 80, Road Number 1, BH Area. The house belonged to Nadeem Khan, who was away on duty at the time, while his wife was visiting her maternal home. The burglars used a similar modus operandi, breaking into the locked house to steal ₹25,000 in cash, about 300 grams of silver jewellery, and several gold rings.

Upon receiving information about the back-to-back thefts, a team from the Bistupur Police Station arrived at the locations to begin an investigation. Police officials confirmed that they are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the perpetrators.

“We are questioning neighbours and checking surveillance feeds from nearby routes. It appears the gang had monitored the movement of the residents before striking,” said a police official.
