Jamshedpur, Feb 19: The kin of Suraj Kumar, former district Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) general secretary, who was killed on December 7 last, demanded a CBI probe into the murder here on Saturday.

Vijay Kumar, father of late Suraj Kumar, today sent a memorandum to Jharkhand DGP and Jharkhand State Women’s Commission in this connection. They alleged that the Bagbera police were trying to help the killers of their son. They said the police could not submit the charge-sheet in the murder case even after the passage of 75 days from the day of crime. The police had also not recorded the statements of important witnesses of the crime, they said.

Suraj’s kin gave a March 5 deadline to Bagbera police to submit the charge-sheet. They threatened to stage dharna at the gate of Bagbera police station in case police failed to meet their deadline. They said they had no trust on Bagbera police.

Suraj was attacked by assailants near Harharguttu Purana Bazar around 10 pm. The assailants had attacked him with sharp weapons, resulting in fatal injuries.
