Jamshedpur, Jan 6: An agreement was reached between Tata Motors and the Tata Motors Workers Union following the sudden demise of Ganesh Chand Mahato, an employee in BIW Plant 3 Division. Mahato passed away due to a heart attack, prompting discussions between his family members, the union, and the management.
Six rounds of talks unfolded throughout the day, involving ER Head Soumik Roy, ER Officer Sujit Kumar Jha from the management, and President Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary RK Singh, along with the deceased’s wife Durga Rani Mahato, daughters Dwigshree, Dwishashree, Isha Mahato, and son Dhruv Mahato representing the union and family.
The agreement, signed at 5:30 pm, outlined that Dhruv Mahato, the deceased’s son, would be offered a permanent job at Tata Motors. Additionally, the payment of group insurance, service fund, PF, and gratuity would be processed following the established rules. Dhruv Mahato has the flexibility to join Tata Motors after completing necessary family rituals, and his offer letter was handed over by President Gurmeet Singh and General Secretary RK Singh.
Union General Secretary RK Singh expressed gratitude to the management, particularly acknowledging VP Vishal Badshah, senior officer Sitaram Kandi, Plant Head Ravindra Kulkarni, HR Head Mohan Ghant, ER Head Soumik Roy, and others. President Gurmeet Singh emphasized the satisfaction with the agreement, stating that the union’s commitment to standing by its employees in every situation held true on this occasion. (w/nm)
