Appeals to shopkeepers against road, drain encroachment, people without masks reprimanded

Jamshedpur, Jan 15: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District magistrate Suraj Kumar launched a drive in the course of which he evicted shopkeepers doing business along encroached portions of the road between the Khudiram Bose Chowk-Dimna Road. He confiscated the goods. He also visited the Sakchi Market where he sealed six shops. The shopkeepers concerned had displayed their wares illegally on encroached portions of the road. The goods thus displayed were seized and fines levied against them.
Suraj Kumar clearly stated that encroachment of roads and drains caused traffic congestions which inconvenienced movement of vehicles and pedestrians. He asked shopkeepers to abstain from displaying their wares outside their shops on the roads. The DC said that he had been receiving regular complaints of road and drain encroachments and these regularly came up for review in road safety meetings.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District magistrate Suraj Kumar informed that he had been regularly sounding the shopkeepers against encroachment that was rthe cause of congestion. On Friday, he gave them a very stern warning and told them tghat further encroachments would attract legal proceedings. He also directed them to maintain social distancing, keep sanitizers in shop places and put on masks.
While reviewing encroachments in Mango, the DC, SDM Dhalbhum, ADM (L&O) and other administrative officials distributed blankets among the poor and needy in view of the cold conditions. At the same time Surtaj Kumar sternly reprimanded people who were caught without masks and warned them of strict action for violation of COVID protocols.
Officials who accompanied the DC on the inspection tour included ADM Dhalbhum, ADM (L&O), Director DRDA, DTO, DPRO, Assistant Director of Social Security and others.
