Jamshedpur DC reviews preparation for civic body polls

Jamshedpur, Nov 13: The District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner  Vijaya Jadhav, in the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, reviewed the preparations for the civic elections to be held in the three municipal bodies of the district, namely, Mango Municipal Corporation, Jugsalai Municipal Council and Chakulia Nagar Panchayat.

 Had a meeting with the nodal officers. City SP Si K.K. Vijay Shankar, SDM Dhalbhum Mr. Piyush Sinha, ADM Law and Order Mr. Nandkishore Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Saurabh Sinha, Director NEP Mrs. Jyotsna Singh, District Deputy Election Officer Mr. Kanu Ram Nag, District Panchayat Raj Officer Dr. Rajnikant Mishra, District Public Relations Officer Mr. Rohit Kumar, DIO Mr. Kishore Prasad, DSP Patmada Mr. Sumit Kumar, Station House Officers of the concerned police station areas etc. were present. 

In the meeting, changing the earlier decision of setting up separate dispatch and receiving centers, it was decided to set up dispatch and receiving centers and strong rooms in the market committee itself.

Regarding the successful conduct of civic elections in the district, Election Cell, Personnel Cell, Vehicle Cell, Material Cell, Ballot Cell, Training Cell, EVM Cell, Law and Order cum Code of Conduct Cell, Expenditure Account Cell, Observer Cell, Media Cell, Information Technology Cell Has been formed. 

Addressing the nodal officers, the District Election Officer said that the cells constituted for the civic body elections should be activated and responsibilities for teams should be designated. 

Incidentally, the election of the chairperson and ward councilor is to be held in all the three municipal bodies. In Mango Municipal Corporation, 175 booths will be set up in 66 buildings for 36 wards. There will be 41 booths in 15 buildings for 22 wards in Jugsalai Municipal Council class ‘B’. In Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, 18 booths for 12 wards will be built in 12 buildings.

The District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner instructed the nodal officer of the Personnel Cell to prepare a database of personnel for the successful conduct of the election work. 

The nodal officer of the training cell was asked to start preliminary preparations related to the training of election personnel. 

The vehicle cell was instructed to make a pre-assessment of the number of vehicles, big or small, that would be required. 

Along with this, it was decided to o demand a small vehicle from the vehicle cell to reach the polling stations located in the narrow streets under Mango Municipal Corporation and Jugsalai Municipal Council area. All other cells were also instructed to complete their preparations.
