Jamshedpur Markets, Roads to Get 5:00 AM Clean-Up

Jamshedpur: In a major move to overhaul urban sanitation, Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan has ordered all urban local bodies to complete the cleaning of marketplaces and major roads before 5:00 AM. This initiative serves as a pilot project that the administration plans to expand based on its initial success.

Focus on Sanitation and Water Access

During a comprehensive review meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to prioritize transparency and public participation. With the summer season approaching, he issued several time-bound directives:

  • Water Facilities: Civic bodies must set up temporary drinking water stations within two days and install Water ATMs within a week.

  • Emergency Supply: Authorities must deploy water tankers in areas facing acute shortages.

  • Waste Management: Officials must implement door-to-door collection, conduct pre-monsoon drain cleaning, and impose penalties on individuals caught littering.

Infrastructure and Healthcare Upgrades

The meeting, attended by senior officers from the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Municipal Corporation, and councils from Jugsalai and Chakulia, also addressed broader civic services.

  • Public Health: The DC directed officials to strengthen services at Ayushman Arogya Mandir by ensuring doctor availability and finishing pending renovations.

  • Urban Lighting: Field officers must conduct daily inspections to ensure all streetlights function correctly.

  • Worker Welfare: The administration plans to link sanitation workers with the Chief Minister’s Shramik Yojana, providing them with job cards, safety training, and necessary equipment.

Safety and Dust Control

To minimize public inconvenience, the Deputy Commissioner mandated strict safety norms at both government and private construction sites. This includes regular water sprinkling to suppress dust. Additionally, the administration is focusing on citizen awareness programs to improve the city’s performance in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan rankings.
