Jamshedpur DC meets student burnt in suicide bid, provides assistance to family members 

Assures action based on report of two-member committee, CM monitoring situation 

Jamshedpur, October 16: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav met the doctors at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) and enquired about the condition of Ritu Mukhi a class nine student who burnt herself allegedly after humiliation by school teacher for cheating.

The student of Sakchi-based Shardamoni Girls High School is undergoing treatment at burn unit of TMH.

Deputy commissioner talked about providing better medical facilities to the patient and discussed if there is a need to call any specialist doctor from outside, then it should be arranged.

She also met Ritu Mukhi’s mother and other family members, and provided assistance of Rs 25,000 on behalf of the district administration under the SC ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

The family members were assured by the Deputy Commissioner  of better medical facilities for Ritu. The family members were informed that a two-member investigation team of SDM Dhalbhum and DEO has submitted the report, further appropriate action will be taken on basis of the report.

Vijaya Jadhav told the media that the condition of the child is stable, talking well. Some essential medicines have been sent by the district administration to TMH for Ritu. Condemning the incident, she said that the entire matter has been investigated. The district administration is constantly in touch with the victim’s family, necessary action has been taken in this matter since the day of the incident, the accused has been arrested and sent to jail.

She expressed hope and confidence that Ritu would get well soon. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Chief Minister of the state is constantly monitoring this incident, the incident is also being monitored from the state headquarters. The government administration is with the victim’s family. Ritu Mukhi’s mother is being given the benefit of pension scheme, ration has been delivered at home for the family members. The form has been filled to get the benefit of Ritu’s Savitribai Phule Samridhi Yojana, Ritu’s mother will be registered in the Chief Minister’s Health Assistance Scheme. Other schemes will also be covered by the district administration while receiving applications.

Ritu’s family at the hospital got food delivered from the Deputy Commissioner’s residence.
