Jamshedpur DC joins mentally challenged children in empowerment drive

Jamshedpur, Dec 2: The Parents’ Association of Mentally Challenged Children, Jamshedpur, along with their wards, marched to the East Singhbhum District Deputy Commissioner’s office by walking a distance of 200 meters to meet her. At this juncture, the DC herself came out to meet the special visitors and mingled with them freely. She encouraged them by appreciating their special talents. In her chat with these special children, DC Vijaya Jadhav said, “You have been specially gifted in the fields of music, sports, painting and modeling. Many of you have excelled in sporting events at the district, state and national levels.”

These special children gifted DC Vijaya Jadhav bouquets and designer candles. One of the parents said, “The joy was contagious. It was a delight to see the DC sharing the joy of our children.”

Sharing the message of empowerment on the occasion of World Disability Day, the DC joined the children and their parents in releasing balloons. She appealed to all to widen their hearts and accommodate special children to make them feel at home with the rest of the world. The mentally challenged children touched every heart present with the rendition of ‘We shall overcome…’ in English and its Hindi version.
