Jamshedpur, February 11: A meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee for Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) was held under Deputy Commissioner East Singhbhum Suraj Kumar at district collectorate.
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program to East Singhbhum district, against the target 95 allotted under the financial year 2021-22, out of 387 applications forwarded in banks, 98 applications have been approved so far, but margin money of only 48 applications has been claimed, which is extremely unsatisfactory.
General Manager, District Industries Center (DIC) Chaibasa, SS Baitha informed that the requirement of EDP training for payment in the past has now been abolished, so that banks can accept the application and make quick payment. It was informed by the General Manager that Bank of India, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank and State Bank of India have performed unsatisfactorily in claiming margin money against the target allotted, while Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and UCO Bank have done commendable.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the 95 applications currently pending in various bank branches, the Deputy Commissioner directed the banks to take appropriate action on all pending applications in the next 10 days and expeditiously execute them.
He directed the General Manager-DIC to re-send the applications, except those returned by the banks whose CIBIL score is poor, to the banks by February 16 next.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the representative of KVIC, Ranchi to send a report showing the percentage of accepted applications against the applications forwarded regularly and the applications paid against the accepted applications.
It was informed by the Deputy Director of KVIC, Ranchi that East Singhbhum district is ranked second in Jharkhand on the basis of accepted applications and fourth on the basis of paid applications. He urged the banks to make early payment of the approved applications, so that the physical and economic target of the district could be achieved.
District Lead Bank Manager, Jamshedpur Santosh Kumar requested the District Coordinators of all the banks to achieve their allotted target and make payment without delay, so that the performance of East Singhbhum district could be improved further.
