Jamshedpur DC-DDC motivate youth to vote

Jamshedpur: In a concerted effort to ensure maximum voter turnout in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the district administration has initiated a comprehensive voter awareness campaign targeting citizens of all age groups. As part of this initiative, a voter awareness program was organized for the youth trained in SNTI (name expansion unknown), urging them to exercise their voting rights on May 25th.

District Election Officer Ananya Mittal and Deputy Development Commissioner cum Senior Officer Sweep Cell Manish Kumar addressed the youth during the event, emphasizing the importance of voting. Mittal enlightened the youth on the various methods of casting votes, even in the absence of a voter card. Highlighting the extended voting hours from 7 am to 5 pm, Mittal stressed the significance of verifying one’s name on the voter list and locating the respective polling booths.

To achieve a 100 percent voting turnout, Mittal urged citizens to ensure their names are correctly enlisted in the voter list and to actively participate in the voting process on May 25, 2024. Even without a voter card, individuals can exercise their voting rights using one of the 12 alternative identity cards permitted. Mittal urged citizens to submit Form 6 before April 26 to include their names in the voter list.

Deputy Development Commissioner cum Senior Officer ‘Sweep Koshang’ acknowledged the urban-rural disparity in voting participation, emphasizing the need for extensive voter awareness campaigns, especially in areas with historically low voter turnout. He urged the youth to leverage their social media platforms to spread awareness and encourage their peers and family members to vote.

In a symbolic gesture, the District Election Officer administered the Voter’s Oath to all present youth, reaffirming their commitment to participate in the electoral process.
