Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner cum District Returning Officer of East Singhbhum convened a meeting of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) on Wednesday and reviewed its functioning. Detailed discussions were held on the activities and responsibilities of MCMC members.
The Returning Officer directed the committee members to immediately inform the district administration officials about cases of violation of Model Code of Conduct. He said it was mandatory for all candidates to get their publicity material certified by the MCMC. Legal action would be taken against those found to be violating the Code, he said.
The DC also asked the MCMC members to keep an eye on paid news and take cognizance of violations of Election Commission�s instructions. He said all political parties and candidates should be asked to get their posters, banners, pamphlets and other campaign materials certified by the MCMC before using them to seek votes. The names and addresses of publishers and printers should be clearly mentioned on the publicity material along with the number of copies, he said.
The MCMC meeting was attended by the DPRO of East Singhbhum Rohit Kumar, Poonam Sinha, Atmeshwar Jha, B Srinivas and assistant registrar.
