Jamshedpur: DAV National Sports Cluster Level-I Tournament 2024 kicks off

Jamshedpur, July 30:  DAV Public School, Bistupur, Jamshedpur, hosted the two-day DAV National Sports 2024 Cluster-I Tournament, featuring events such as Table Tennis, Karate, Wushu, Judo, and Boxing on July 30, 2024. Cricket matches were held at LIC Ground, Kadma, and Cooperative College Ground. Athletics events are scheduled for July 31 at Sumant Moolgaokar Stadium, Telco.

The inaugural ceremony saw 800 participants from 8 schools reciting the DAV Gaan. The event was graced by the Honorable ARO cum Principal, Pragya Singh, who welcomed the heads of participating schools: Mahua Singh from DAV Model School, CFRI, Dhanbad, Rekha Kumari from DAV Public School, Chaibasa, P.K. Bhuiya from Tata DAV Public School, Noamundi, Chandrani Banerjee from TATA DAV School, Sijua, Asis Kumar Mandal from DAV Public School, Mahuda, and Rakesh Sharma from DAV Public School, Barora, along with enthusiastic participants.

In her welcome address, Pragya Singh expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and motivated participants to play with true sportsmanship and integrity. She highlighted the tournament’s structure, with events for boys and girls in three age categories: Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19, aiming to foster sportsmanship, brotherhood, discipline, teamwork, and excellence among students.

Singh emphasized the importance of clear vision, focused approach, and determination in achieving goals. She encouraged young athletes to learn the rules, strive for excellence, and bring laurels to their families and schools. Zonal level certificates will serve as State Level certificates for winners, with top performers advancing to the National Level Tournament and potentially being selected for the Olympics.

The Honorable ARO cum Principal, Pragya Singh, officially declared the DAV National Sports Cluster-I Tournament open. Following the inaugural ceremony, teams proceeded to their respective venues for matches. The day concluded with applause and cheers as today’s winners were felicitated with medals, marking a day filled with talent, competition, and camaraderie.
