Jamshedpur Crime: Burglars’ gang busted, five arrested with cash, stolen items

Jamshedpur, Oct 13: Sakchi police here on Thursday busted a gang of burglars allegedly responsible for a series of thefts in households, shops and offices across the city. Five members of the gang have been arrested.

Those arrested were identified as Krishna Sharma, Raju Sharma, Shankar Nag alias Kana, Uttam Pramanik and Mohammad Rashid.

Cops have also seized cash worth Rs 2.14 lakh and other stolen items from the possession of the accused persons, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) City Sudhanshu Jain.

“During investigation in a theft case at Sakchi, police had come across CCTV footage of the crime and identified one of the thieves as Krishna Sharma. He was arrested near river. His associates were arrested on the basis of his confessional statement. Krishna was involved in all thefts while Uttam used to deal with the stolen cash. Their other associates used to perform recce of the target houses before carrying out their plans. The gang used to target houses whose doors were found open.”

Krishna revealed before police that his parents and other relatives had driven him out of house for his criminal activities. He said he used to commit thefts to fulfil the demands of his four girlfriends. He said he is fond of expensive shoes, mobile phones and clothes.

Krishna told cops he and his associates had committed theft in the hosue of a doctor at Sakchi recently. The gang had also committed theft at Jagjeet Cloth Store in Sakchi Market, said the ASP.
