Jamshedpur Crime: 32 cartons of duplicate liquor confiscated, three arrested

Breakthrough in brown sugar 

Jamshedpur, June 2: In a breakthrough in illicit liquor rackets police arrested three persons from Adityapur and Kharsawan in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Wednesday.

During the arrests, whereas the police seized 144 small packets of the brown sugar from two bootleggers at Adityapur Muslim Bustee, the police seized confiscated 32 cartons of duplicate Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Khamardih village under Kharsawan thana area of the adjoining district.

Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Mohammed Arshi said at about 9 am today, a patrolling party found a youth trying to running away near Adityapur Muslim Bustee leading the police party to chase him.

” Acting on a tipoff, the youth was nabbed after a chase and on searching, the police found as many as 60 small packets, containing brown sugar. The youth who was identified as Sheikh Rahmat Hussain, on being interrogated, informed that he was going to sell the drug having taken it from a supplier staying on F – Road of the Muslim Bustee. Soon after the police raided the place and arrested the supplier, ” said Arshi.

The SP said that he had received secret information that illegal foreign liquor business is going on in the Amda OP area. In view of this, a special raiding team was immediately formed under the leadership of Seraikela Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rakesh Ranjan. Near the Khamardih railway bridge by the team, a person was seen carrying goods in a bag in suspicious condition.

The superintendent of police said during the raid, the police seized 80 packets from the supplier identified as Asraf Ali.

Speaking about the illicit liquor, the superintendent of police said a patrolling party had spotted a man carrying a bag in a suspicious way at Khundasingi railway station in Kharsawan this morning.

“On intercepting the man and searching the bag, the police found 10 bottles of IMFL in it. Soon the man identified as Panchanan Mandal was taken into custody. During interrogation, Mandal divulged he along with two persons from Chaibasa manufacturing duplicate IMFL at his house in Khamardih. The police party soon raided Mandal’s house and recovered 32 cartons of duplicate whiskey from there, ” said Arshi.

In the raid team formed, Kharsawan police station in-charge Prakash Kumar Rajak, Amda OP in-charge Police Under Inspector Mohammad Naushad, Police Under Inspector Raju Rana, Havildar Kanhu Marandi, constable 136 Rajkumar Lohar and constable 641 Mishir Kumar Mahato were involved.
