Jamshedpur Covid threat: Vigilance to step up at Tatanagar railway station

Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Amidst growing threat of a fresh wave of Covid, the health department has said that the passengers of all trains coming from outside the state will be subjected to Covid-19 tests at Tatanagar railway station soon. Following fresh instructions from the Government, the district administration has decided to step up vigilance at the entry points to the district.

Officials of Tatanagar railway station informed that the situation is being constantly monitored and coordinated at all levels. Desks will be set up all over the railway system. The collaboration and coordination with the concerned health authorities are also being ensured.To overcome the situation the strategy will be a combination of vigilance through clinical and pandemic surveillance, scenario based planning and keeping all the systems on alert for a rapid, scale up response when needed.

” Our focus and sustained effort should be on a fivefold strategy of test- track-treat- vaccination and adherence to COVID Appropriate Behaviour. Railways and Production Units to make necessary arrangements for procurement of Vaccine and encourage all Railway beneficiaries to take COVID-19 precaution dose,” said an official.

Volunteers are being deputed along with the help desk so that the workers do not face any problem. In view of the convenience and safety of passengers, adequate amounts of face masks, hand sanitizers and other materials will also be made available in all buses.

“The random tests at public places or areas of arrival will help to identify the patient so that they can be quarantined to stop further spread.  People are not taking the virus seriously. Markets are flooded with people.   If the people continue to evade following the norms of maintaining social distance and wearing masks, then the number of Covid cases may increase further,” noted an official.

In the wake of a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hitting several parts of the country, the district administration has started proactively measures to deal with such a scenario. Though the cases have come down rapidly as part of the preventive measures, the administration has come up with 10 new checkpoints to keep entering the city. These check posts have come up at entry points like Dobo-Kanderbera road that links to the steel city through Domuhani Bridge, Adityapur Bridge on river Kharkai to name a few.
