Jamshedpur Court defers hearing on Neeraj Singh’s anticipatory bail, seeks case diary

Jamshedpur, July 6: The anticipatory bail plea of BJP leader and DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh, who has been named as an accused in the Himanshu Singh murder and the attempted murder of Pratyush Anand outside DD Bar in Bistupur, came up for hearing before the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge-I (ADJ-I) here on Monday.
Senior advocate Prakash Jha, appearing for Neeraj Singh, urged the court to hear the anticipatory bail application, contending that while reports of his client’s detention in Rajasthan had surfaced, no official document confirming his arrest had been placed before the court.

The court then sought clarification from the prosecution regarding Singh’s status. After consulting the investigating officers, the Public Prosecutor informed the court that Neeraj Singh had been detained in Rajasthan but had not yet been formally arrested.
Following the submission, the defence argued that the anticipatory bail plea remained maintainable and pressed for relief. However, the court decided not to pass any order immediately and instead called for the records from the lower court along with the case diary from the Jamshedpur police.
The prosecution initially sought eight days to produce the case diary. The defence opposed the request, after which the court directed the police to submit the case diary within five days.
The matter has now been posted for further hearing after the case diary is placed before the court.
