Jamshedpur: The court of first class judicial magistrate Siddhant Tigga has acquitted Pradeep Kumar Gupta in a cheque bounce case involving a sum of Rs 5 lakh. The verdict was delivered yesterday, bringing an end to a legal battle that began over six years ago.
Advocate Guddu Haider represented Gupta, successfully arguing for his acquittal. The defense presented two witnesses to substantiate their case, while the complainant, VP Rao, was supported by Advocate Mo Rahmatullah and presented one witness.
The case dates back to November 20, 2017, when VP Rao filed a complaint against Gupta. Rao alleged that Gupta had issued a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh as repayment for a loan, which subsequently bounced, leading to accusations of fraud and financial misconduct.
During the trial, Rao maintained that Gupta had intentionally issued a fake cheque, knowing it would not clear due to insufficient funds. However, the defense argued that there was no fraudulent intent on Gupta’s part and presented evidence to support their claim.
After reviewing the testimonies and evidence from both sides, Magistrate Siddhant Tigga concluded that there was insufficient proof to convict Gupta of the charges. The court’s decision to acquit Gupta marks the end of a prolonged and contentious legal dispute.
Advocate Guddu Haider expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “The court’s verdict underscores the importance of thorough and unbiased examination of evidence. My client has always maintained his innocence, and today’s ruling validates that.”
On the other hand, the complainant, VP Rao, expressed disappointment but respected the court’s decision. “While I am disappointed with the verdict, I believe in the judicial process and accept the court’s ruling,” Rao said.
