Jamshedpur Coronavirus: Second Covid death within a week in Steel City, 15 new positives reported

Jamshedpur, July 14: The spike in COVID-19 cases continued in Jamshedpur with 15 new infections reported on Saturday, July 16, taking the total tally to 70167 mark.

City on Saturday recorded one death due to the infection on Saturday as a 72-year-old Sonari resident succumbed to the virus. According to sources, the elderly man was admitted to TMH after testing positive for COVID-19 and later died during treatment. This is the second Coronavirus death in Jamshedpur within a week as earlier a woman died on July 12.

The death toll in Jamshedpur has jumped to 1136.  

Meanwhile, 15 new cases have come up from 9 different city locations on Saturday, July 16. Four cases have been reported from Telco, two each from Sakchi, Baridih and Kadma, one each from Govindpur, Bistupur, Sonari, Musabani, and other locations.

375 samples were tested on Saturday of which 15 came out positive.

8 positive cases came up against 59 RTPCR tests. Of the 310 RAT test, 5 tested positive while 2 positive cases came from 6 TrueNat tests.  

The Coronavirus tally in Jamshedpur has risen to 70167.

With 12 fresh recoveries on Saturday, a total number of 68,858 patients have been discharged since the breakout while total active cases in Jamshedpur are 173.

Recovery rate is 98.16% while mortality rate is 1.62 %.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 913136 tests per million in the district. 

So far in Jamshedpur 2431062 samples have been collected out of which 2430767 have been tested and 2360600 have turned out to be negative.

As Covid restrictions have been removed, citizens are crowding at market places,  restaurants are being operated with full capacity, new virus cases are rising once more. Urban area of the city has been reporting a surge in cases.
